ALEXANDRIA, VIRGINIA FOLK ART PAINTED GAMEBOARD, single-sided, slightly rectangular form constructed from two tongue-and-groove shipping crate boards held together by three battens on the reverse. The front retains its original black-painted surface with red-painted squares divided by yellow-green sashing. The reverse with stenciled advertising and a black-painted Alexandria, VA drug store shipping address. Retains an excellent dry patina. Circa 1910. 16" x 18 1/2".
Good as-found condition, slight separation of the boards and accompanying short cracks, several other age cracks, and minor scarring to the paint.
