AMERICAN CANVAS-COVERED OVAL BOXES, LOT OF TWO, comprising a small black hat box containing a lady's straw mourning hat set with black-glass beading and silk ribbons; and a green-painted example with leather bands and plain papered interior, possibly sailor made. Second half 19th century. 6" H, 8 1/4" x 10 1/4"; and 9" H, 11 1/2" x 15 1/2".
Good to very good condition, black box with lifting of canvas at joint, hat with small losses, green example with wear and staining, interior paper losses.
