AMERICAN OR BRITISH SCHOOL (19TH CENTURY) PORTRAIT OF A WOMAN, oil on canvas, bust-length depiction of an auburn-haired sitter wearing pearl necklace and patterned shawl, signed "C. Roberts" lower left. Housed in a period gilt frame with molded-composition ornament. Circa 1880. 23 1/2" x 19 1/2" sight, 33 1/4" x 29 1/4" OA.
Provenance: From the estate of Sandra Stohrer, Williamsburg, VA.
Very good overall visual condition with minor craquelure and possible scattered inpainting. Frame with minor wear and likely later surface.
