AMERICAN RETAILED UNDERHAMMER PERCUSSION PISTOL, approximately 32 cal., octagonal to round barrel stamped "LONDON" to top, walnut stock, engraved steel frame with "WOLFE / BISHOP & Co" on top, marks for the Birmingham Proof Co., rear sight and front bead. Second quarter 19th century. 8 1/4" LOA, 4" barrel. Class: Antique - no registration required.
Catalogue Note: The Classified Merchintile Directory, For The Cities of New-York and Brooklyn of 1837 recorded "Wolfe, Bishop & Co. importers of fine and heavy hardware, guns, &c. 87 Maiden Lane."
