AMERICAN ROCKINGHAM-GLAZED POTTERY FIGURAL DOG / SPANIEL, mottled brown glaze, sitting on a rectangular base with molded acanthus leaf decorations, having molded wavy coat and wearing a collar and locket. Unmarked. Probably East Liverpool, OH. Second half 19th century. 11 1/2" HOA.
Catalogue Note: A handwritten note to underside reads: "This image was made in Liverpool, Ohio in 1855. I had it in my store and it stayed a splendid shopkeeper, ever since 1857. And I kept it when I sold my store in 1864." Signed "E Geisler. / Davenport, Ia."
