AMERICAN SCHOOL (19TH CENTURY) MEMORIAL / MOURNING SCENE, watercolor on paper, depicting a woman in a black dress holding a book and gazing towards an urn-topped memorial, surrounded by greenery including two weeping willows that drape over the scene, no signature located. Housed under glass in a period gilt-molded frame. First half 19th century. 8 5/8" x 6 5/8" sight, 10 7/8" x 8 7/8" OA.
Provenance: From a private collection in Washington, DC.

Condition

Good visual condition with scattered areas of discoloration, center vertical with a crease having possible tear, frame with wear, surface scratches, and some flakes and chips to molding. Not examined outside of frame.
