AMERICAN SCHOOL (LATE 19TH CENTURY) LANDSCAPE PAINTING, oil on canvas, depicting a body of water with grassy banks, featuring a wooded area on the right side with a white house and fence within the trees, the left side having a distant view of a farm with an ox-drawn cart holding hay and two figures, mountains in the background, mostly illegible signature and date in the lower right. Housed in likely original gilt-molded frame. Dated 1878. 31 5/8" x 17 1/2" sight, 43" x 29 1/4" OA.

Condition
Very good visual condition with areas of craquelure and yellowing, canvas with a small puncture hole in the water near lower proper right corner. Frame with scattered flakes and chips to molding mostly along outer edges.
