AMERICAN SCHOOL, POSSIBLY SOUTHERN, (19TH CENTURY) FOLK ART PORTRAIT OF A GENTLEMAN, watercolor and ink on paper, waist-length depiction of young sitter, with clouds in the background, illegible inscription dated "1901" on reverse. Housed under glass in a gilt molded frame. 19th century. 4 1/2" x 3 1/2" sight, 15" x 12" OA.
Provenance: Discovered in Floyd Co., Virginia.
Very good overall visual condition, with minor toning. Not examined outside of frame. Frame with scattered minor losses.
