ASSORTED CAST-IRON COUNTRY STORE COUNTER ARTICLES, LOT OF TWO,
comprising a Piper Heidsieck tobacco cutter, painted black with gold and red stencil highlights, raised lettering "PIPER HEIDSIECK" to each side of the arch-form blade support, each end with eyelets for securing; and a double-roll paper roll holder/cutter with raised lettering patent dates of March 7, 1893 and Oct 10, 1893, holds two various sized paper rolls, stylized scroll panels to the sides and feet.
Late 19th century.
Tobacco 7 1/2" H, 18 3/4" LOA; Paper holder 23 3/8" H, 22 1/4" LOA.
Provenance: Deaccessioned by Bennington Museum, Bennington, VT. All proceeds will go toward the museum's collections acquisition fund.
Condition
Very good overall condition, expected usage wear, scattered losses to paint decoration, cutter blade with rust, paper holder lacking each support bar/cutter bar.
