ASSORTED EARLY SINGLE-SIDED RECORDS IN CARRYING CASE, including a wooden carrying case, painted black, with slats inside to hold records, including 27 single-sided records, most of which are Victor brand, but notably two depicting a Native American listening to a record player labeled "AMERICAN RECORD COMPANY / Music hath Charms / HAWTHORNE, SHEBLE & PRESCOTT / SPRINGFIELD, MASS. USA", titles for those include "The Whole Dam Family" and "Everybody Works but Father". First quarter 20th century. Case 11" HOA, 21 1/2" WOA, 8" DOA.

Condition

Good condition overall, case with moderate usage wear, leather handle broken off, but present; some records cracked, notably one of the American Record Company examples has a crack, both of them warped so that the middle of the record is the highest point.

Deaccessioned by the Valentine Museum, Richmond, VA to benefit collections care, preservation, and future acquisitions.
