ASSORTED ENGLISH INK BOTTLES, LOT OF 11, varying shades of blue- and green-ish aqua and two cornflower blue, including a variety of octagonal, round, and square/rectangular inkwells, some with vertical fluting and molded pen rests to bodies, and one octagonal example embossed "SHAWS' / INKS / ARE / THE / BEST", each bottle with rough unfinished so-called "burst top" mouths in the English style. Various makers. Late 19th/early 20th century. 3 1/4" HOA.

Condition

Mostly very good condition, many undamaged; a couple with mild to moderate chipping or bruising at base edges and some with perhaps moderate sickness or internal residue; light-green square with a short crack or annealing fissure at the neck not reaching into body, and one almond/oval shaped bottle with a hole in the base corner. Each with jagged roughness at mouths and some with surfaced open bubbles or potstones, all as made.
