BALTIMORE, MARYLAND DECORATED STONEWARE JARS, LOT OF TWO, each salt-glazed, approximately one-gallon capacity, of semi-ovoid form with collared rim, and applied arched tab handles, comprising one example with rounded rim and incised shoulder ring and one example with squared rim. Each featuring brushed cobalt dropped feather and flower decoration from neck to each side, additional cobalt to handle terminals and below. Second half 19th century. 9 3/4" HOA.
Rounded rim example undamaged; squared rim example mostly undamaged except having a flake to end of one handle and some red paint to interior. Each having manufacturing flaws including uneven rims and glaze imperfections, as made.
