BENJAMIN DUVAL ATTRIBUTED, RICHMOND, VIRGINIA STONEWARE ARTICLES, LOT OF TWO, salt-glazed, each of graceful ovoid form, comprising an approximately one-gallon capacity jar with a thin, flattened rim, lightly incised shoulder ring, and applied arched handles with distinctive depressed terminals and an approximately two-gallon capacity jug with an applied strap handle with medial groove. Together with a framed magnified printout of Figure 30 from Hunter (ed.) - Ceramics in America 2005, "The Destruction of the Benjamin DuVal Stoneware Manufactory, Richmond, Virginia", by Robert Hunter and Marshall Goodman, p. 49, being an 1817 Richmond Enquirer advertisement for Duval depicting a jug of nearly identical form. Three pieces total. First half 19th century. Jug 14" HOA, jar 9 1/2" H, 4 7/8" D rim.
