BRITISH MAHOGANY TALL-CASE CLOCK WITH LEWIS FAMILY, ROCKINGHAM CO., VIRGINIA HISTORY, eight-day brass works, with false plate stamped "OWEN", painted moon-phase dial. Case featuring an arched bonnet, waist featuring turned columns, the whole raised on ball feet. Pendulum, two weights, key and case key present. Pine secondary wood. Retains an old surface with warm color. Possibly Owen & Price or Edward Owen, Birmingham, England. Late 18th/early 19th century. 93" HOA, 20" W, 11" D. 
Catalogue Note: According to family, the present lot was at "Lynnwood", built in 1812, owned by Captain William Layton Yancey and his wife Frances Lynn Lewis. The clock retains documentation pertaining to descent through the family.

Condition

Very good overall condition, case with minor stress cracks to panel, scattered minor losses to veneer, later bracing to back board, minor warpage to proper left side, old repairs to back feet, and with minor wear.
