CHINESE PORTRAIT OF A MAN, watercolor on silk, depicting a man in fine traditional dress, wearing a hat with a peacock feather and a robe having a detailed pattern with dragons and flowers, holding a fan in one hand, a sword sheath peaks behind him, silk embroidery frames the painting. Housed under glass in a 20th century birdseye maple veneer frame. First half 20th century. 5 5/8" x 9 3/8" sight, 11 1/2" x 15 1/4 OA.
Very good visual condition with light toning and spotting, a few tears including a 3/4" tear along one sleeve and side of man, frame with some wear and surface scratches, a chip to veneer in one lower corner.
