CIVIL WAR BURNSIDE SADDLE-RING CARBINE, .54 caliber, fifth model with guide screw in center of right frame, round barrel marked "CAST STEEL 18?", lockplate stamped "BURNSIDE RIFLE Co. / PROVIDENCE=R.I.", top of frame stamped BURNSIDE'S PATENT. / MARCH 25th, 1856.", inspector marks on several elements, walnut buttstock and forearm, lower edge of stock stamped "Z", saddle-ring bar and ring. Serial number 36093. Together with a Burnside cartridge. Two pieces total. 1863-1865. 39 1/2" LOA, 21" barrel.

Very good condition, tight mechanism, metals mainly smooth, markings are faint. Carved "R. H. Nov. 1860" to rear of buttstock.
