CIVIL WAR CONFEDERATE MANUFACTURED "DOG RIVER" CAVALRY SABER AND SCABBARD, curved blade with unstopped fuller that runs open to within 1" of the guard and 8" of the tip, thick leather washer appears original, brass hilt with three-branch guard, and leather-covered wood grip with single-strand brass wire wrap. Original steel-body scabbard with soldered seam along bottom, steel drag, brazed brass lipped throat and two brass ring mounts with iron rings. 1861-1865. 42 1/2" LOA, 34 1/2" blade.

Fine overall condition, blade with smooth dark patina with just some scattered light pitting, hilt with small casting flaw to back of guard where branches converge, minor wear to leather.
