Mapa de la Republica de Nicaragua Levantado por Orden del Gobierno, 1858., G. Kraetzer lithographer, Long Island, NY, hand-colored, mounted on linen, original gilt- and blind-stamped boards. (1) 21" x 26" unfolded, 5 1/2" x 3 1/2" boards; (2) 24" x 31" unfolded, 6 3/8" x 4" boards.
Provenance: Deaccessioned by the Valentine Museum, Richmond, VA to benefit collections care, preservation and future acquisitions.
Condition
(1) Map with 2 1/2" tear at one fold and 1/2" split to another, several brown spots, strong coloring, boards with bowed warp; (2) map excellent with minor scattered toning, boards with area of soiling to front. Each with crossed out library stamp to front pastedown, no other library markings.
