DUTCH FREE-BLOWN PAINTED BLACK GLASS MINIATURE ONION / UTILITY BOTTLE, dark olive-green/black glass with muted polychrome painted surface, exceptionally small quarter-size/miniature so-called "horse hoof" form with long neck and applied squared collar below the plainly finished mouth, kicked-up base with blowpipe pontil scar. Decorated at front depicting a portrait of a brown-haired middle-aged gentleman with black frock and white collar, and at reverse with flowing vine embellishments surrounding an unidentified coat of arms/heraldry featuring possibly a griffin. 1770-1800. 5 3/4" H, 3 1/2" D widest.

Condition

Bottle undamaged, discoloration and very minor loss to painted surface.
