EARLY THUMBPRINT / ARGUS (OMN) COVERED NAPPIES ON STANDARD, LOT OF THREE, colorless lead glass, each having three rows of thumbprints on sides, two rows in bottom, and 32-scallop rim, raised on a double-step hollow stem with 12 flutes, and circular foot with 24 scallops and single row of 24 thumbprints underneath, cover with four rows of thumbprints and hexagonal finial, wafer construction. Bakewell, Pears & Co., Pittsburgh, PA. Third quarter 19th century. 6 3/4" to 8" HOA, 6 1/4" to 7 1/4" D rims.
One larger example undamaged; other covers undamaged or nearly undamaged with perhaps a few flakes to the edge; smaller base having some scattered flaking and chipping to the rim scallops; remaining larger examples having overall flaking and chipping to the rim scallops; some having some wear.
