EARLY VICTORIAN CARVED ROSEWOOD SOFA OWNED BY GRANDMA MOSES, retains likely original red velvet upholstery, crest rail with carved floral and nut designs. Retains an old surface with warm color. Possibly from her time in Augusta County, Virginia. Fourth quarter 19th century. 38" HOA, 83" W, 27 1/4" D.
Provenance: Deaccessioned by Bennington Museum, Bennington, VT. All proceeds will go toward the museum's collections acquisition fund.
