EFFINGHAM EMBREE, NEW YORK, KEY-WIND POCKET WATCH IN GEORGIAN ENGLISH STERLING SILVER PAIR CASE, chain fuse movement with verge escapement, fully engraved movement plate with pierced balance cock and silvered regulator, having a 45.5 mm white enamel dial with Roman chapter ring and gilt hands, housed in a sterling inner open-face case with high dome bull's eye crystal, sterling outer case with plain design, interior back lined with a retailer's paper label that reads, "Evans / Clocks & Watch / MAKER / NEWARK / Gold Rings &c.", key not included. Movement signed "Effingham Embree / NEW YORK No.. 441", interiors of inner and outer cases each impressed with an "I [pellet] T" possibly for John Taylor and four hallmarks of a lion passant for sterling fineness, a crowned leopard's head city mark for London, a "t" date mark for 1794, and a King George III duty mark. Total weight including movement and crystal: 134.5 grams. Effingham Embree, New York City and Flushing, NY (1759-1817). Circa 1794. Outer case 57.5 mm D.

Condition

Good to very good overall condition with dial having a hairline and few minor flakes to edge at 2 position and a small flake to edge between 5 and 6 positions, hour hand lacking tip, case with some wear, surface scratches, and minor/small nicks and denting, paper label with short tears and discoloration. Currently running but stopping periodically, not timed for accuracy (see Catalogue Guarantee).
