EMERSON & SILVER, TRENTON, NEW JERSEY MODEL 1850 FOOT OFFICER'S SWORD, brass hilt with floral scroll openwork counter guard, acanthus leaf-decorated quillon, leaf-decorated pommel, leather-wrapped grip with twisted brass wire wrapping, slightly curved single-edge blade with false edge at the tip, single wide fuller, blade etched with spread-wing eagle, scrolling floral devices, panoplies of arms and "US," ricasso etched "EMERSON / & SILVER / TRENTON"; original leather scabbard with brass mouth, middle band, and drag. Circa 1860. 38" LOA, 32" L blade.
Fine condition, the brass retaining much of its original gilding, grip covering intact, blade with some light spotting, scabbard with dryness and rubbing to leather, drag is lacking its securing screw and is thusly loose.
