ENGLISH CERAMIC SALT / PEPPER SHAKERS, LOT OF EIGHT, comprising two brown transfer examples, one with Willow pattern; one blue transfer stylized scrolled design lacking lid; one red/pink transfer with Chinoiserie scene; and two matching pairs including a Copeland blue transfer cylindrical pair with foliate design, and a Locke & Co. pair with yellow and peach relief foliate decoration, one lacking cover. Marks to undersides include green-printed globe with “LOCKE & CO / LTD / SHRUB HILL WORKS / WORCESTER / ENGLAND”, blue-printed “Copeland”, a quiver and arrows with “RIDGWAYS” and registry marks, and a seated dog with “TRADEMARK / E.M. & CO / B”. W. T. Copeland, Stoke; Locke & Co., Worcester; Ridgways, Shelton; Edge, Malkin & Co., Burslem, England; and others. Fourth quarter 19th/early 20th century. 2 1/4" to 4 1/2" HOA.
Six undamaged, except some with crazing and expected wear to top; Willow example with minor chip to bottom edge and hole to metal top; one Copeland example broken and glued.
