ENGLISH ROYAL DOULTON BAYEUX TAPESTRY CERAMIC PLATES, LOT OF 15, each having transfer scenes with polychrome enamel decorations depicting images from the famous tapestry depicting the Norman conquest of England in 1066, comprising eleven 9 1/2" D and one 7 1/2" D plates depicting the landing at Pevensey with a long boat and eight figures, one 5 5/8" D and one 6 1/2" D plate having "BATTLE OF HASTINGS A.D. 1066 BAYEUX TAPESTRY" printed to interior, and one cup plate featuring the "Coronation of / Harold" depicting a king with his orb and sceptre. Marks to underside include printed lion on a crown with "ROYAL DOULTON / ENGLAND" below, "D 2873", and some with shield having "THE BATTLE / of / HASTINGS / 1066 / from the / BAYEUX TAPESTRY". Fourteen undamaged, except some having moderate crazing; one 9 1/2" D plate with minute glaze flake to rim edge.
