ENGLISH SPATTERWARE CERAMIC ARTICLES, LOT OF THREE,
comprising a bowl with alternating purple- and black-sponged decoration and a bull's eye to interior, and a cup and saucer set having polychrome hand-painted thistle design with yellow-sponged border decoration. Unmarked.
Bowl 3 3/8" HOA, 6 3/8" D.
Literature: Cup and saucer parallels the Greasers - Homespun Ceramics, p. 49, fig. 106.
Bowl undamaged, except having some minor spots of discoloration to interior; cup and saucer each having a faint rim hairline. Manufacturing flaws including firing separation to underside, as made.
