FINE PAIR OF AMERICAN SCHOOL (19TH CENTURY) PROFILE PORTRAITS WITH BALTIMORE, MARYLAND HISTORY, pencil on paper, each a bust-length depiction, very finely delineated, of a youthful sitter, one inscribed "Charles Thompson Williams aged 3 years & 7 months", the other inscribed "Martha Elizabeth Williams aged 5 years", both loosely held in a period hand-sewn paper binding, re-purposed from a period engraving, that is inscribed in the same hand, though in ink, "Emily L. Williams / May 4th, 1820", Martha's portrait executed on paper bearing figural dove watermark for the Dove Mill in Montgomery Co., Pennsylvania, owned by Thomas Amies. Unframed. Three pieces total. Possibly the work of Charles Burton (1782-after 1847) or Raphaelle Peale. Circa 1820. Boy's portrait 5 1/4" x 4 1/4".
Each in very good overall original condition with minor to moderate toning and edge wear.
