FOLK ART DECORATED HARDWOOD LARGE FLAX HATCHEL / HECKLING COMB, long rectangular board with large hanging hole at top and cut-out bootjack to bottom, overall punched decoration including a heart, set with central hand-forged spikes clinched through the board and secured by two iron bands. Original natural surface. Fourth quarter 18th/early 19th century. 32 /2" x 11" board, 5" H spikes.
Provenance: From a Shenandoah Valley of Virginia private collection.
Very good as-found condition, early iron staple repair to break above hanging hole, several spikes with bend, expected wear.
