FRENCH GILT-BRASS GRANDE SONNERIE CARRIAGE CLOCK, porcelain dial with Roman chapter ring and Arabic outer minutes track, blued-steel hands, case of beveled glass panels in brass frame featuring Corinthian columns, eight-day time and strike movement with quarter-hour repeat, selection lever to underside of base. Retains possibly original fitted leather carrying case. Late 19th/early 20th century. 8" HOA (including handle), 4 1/8" x 3 1/4" base.
Provenance: From a Charlottesville, VA estate.
Case in good overall condition with scattered minor wear and discoloration. Dial with chip / loss to lower right corner and minor cracks. Carrying case in poor condition with wear, breaks, and losses. Movement currently running but not keeping time (See Catalogue Guarantee).
