Catalogue Note: The Upson Guards were Company K of the 5th Georgia Volunteer Infantry. The unit was first sent to fight in Florida, but by 1862 they were assigned to Tennessee and spent that year and the first half of 1863 engaged in battles throughout the state.
J. W. McCormac was a pioneer American photographer who had a studio in Clarkesville during late 1850s/early 1860s.
