GERMAN METTLACH CERAMIC STEINS, LOT OF TWO, mold numbers 1675 and 1997, each having etched sides with polychrome hand-painted decorations, ceramic inset lids, and metal thumbrests including one with United States seal, 1/2 liter size, comprising one featuring Heidelberg above the Neckar River and one depicting brewer George Ehret, founder of Hell Gate Brewery, New York City. Marks to underside include impressed abbey with "METTLACH / VB", additional impressed numerals, and one with shadow of Villeroy & Boch stamp. Late 19th/early 20th century. 8 7/8" HOA.
