HAGERSTOWN, MARYLAND DECORATED EARTHENWARE / REDWARE DIMINUTIVE BOWL, truncated conical form with rounded rim. Interior slip-decorated with a manganese sinewave centering two rings. Together with a lead-glazed earthenware/redware plate. Two pieces total. Bowl circa 1800; plate mid 19th century. 2" H, 6" D; and 1 3/8" H, 8" D.
Literature: Bowl closely parallels Comstock, The Pottery of the Shenandoah Valley Region, p. 90, fig. 4.17, right.
Bowl undamaged except for a small spot of glaze exfoliation to center, not affecting the decoration; plate with moderate wear.
