HARRISON FAMILY, ROCKINGHAM CO., SHENANDOAH VALLEY OF VIRGINIA RELATED AMOSKEAG SEAMLESS GRAIN / FEEDSACK BAG, blue, pink, and natural cotton, machine woven with two vertical stripes going from top to bottom, top edge with hem and seam at bottom edge, rope attached to one side for closure, one side featuring stenciled "AMOSKEAG / A / SEAMLESS", the other side with personalized stencil of "FANNIE L. HARRISON". Amoskeag Manufacturing Company, Manchester, NH. Second half 19th century. 18 1/2" x 40" OA.

Catalogue Note: Lydia Frances "Fannie" Harrison was born 1855 to parents John Harrison (1800-1880) and Barbara Katherine Hollingsworth (1817-1890). She is recorded as "Fanny", "Fannie", or "Fannie L." by 1870 as recorded in the U.S. Federal Censuses. Fannie was never married and lived with her mother and her unmarried sisters until each of their deaths. In the 1930 U.S. Federal Census for Harrisonburg, VA, she is listed as residing with her sister, Nancy Gordon "Nannie" Harrison (1860-1937), and her brother-in-law, Joseph Clinton Byrd (1860-1958), the grandparents of John Hollingsworth Byrd, Jr. Fannie died in 1944 and is buried at the Harrison Family Cemetery in Mauzy, Rockingham Co., VA

Very good to excellent overall condition with minor wear, light toning, some stains and spotting, slight fading to stenciled name.
