JAMES M. CROMWELL, AUTOMATIC DANCERS CLOCKWORK TOY, wooden, painted and covered in lithographed papers, carved dancers have fully articulated arms and legs, they hang from a likely-replaced wire, clockwork movement is wound from the back and would originally make the dancers move, together with a copy of the March 28th, 1865 patent. New York. Second half 19th century. 7 5/8" HOA.

Condition

Very rough condition with object being largely disassembled and many pieces missing, lithographed paper decoration to the outside is largely worn and missing, key with piece is associated and only partially fits. Clockwork does run, but piece required to make the dancers move is missing (see Catalogue Guarantee).
