JAPANESE SATSUMA CERAMIC ARTICLES, LOT OF TWO, comprising a covered ovoid-form urn with figural guardian lion finial, featuring image of four warriors to one side and reverse depicting four scholars, and a 5 7/8" D hexagonal-form bowl featuring various cartouches to interior with images of figures including scholars and exterior having six heart-shaped cartouches with various figures. Marks to underside include red Shimazu family crest with four character marks and impressed example. Late 19th/first quarter 20th century. 11 1/4" HOA.
