Afterward / married in 1714 the / Rev Fr Vaughn / being 47 yrs." Housed in an old frame. Possibly John Watson (British / American, 1685-1768). Catalogue Note: Mary Laurence Vaughn (b.1665) was the step-daughter of the first governor of New Jersey. She came to American in 1682. John Watson (1685-1786), the artist, was a British émigré, who settled in Perth Amboy, New Jersey and worked as a portrait painter.
