JOSEPH J. BABISCH (AMERICAN, 1934-2021) ART WORK, LOT OF TWO, comprising a pastel on card stock depicting a rows of tenements, most with laundry hanging from clothes lines, unsigned; and a watercolor mixed media abstract townscape, signed "Joseph Babisch 3/14/58" lower right. Second half 20th century. 30" x 21 1/4" and 22" x 28".
Provenance: From the estate of the artist, Youngstown, OH.
Catalogue Note: Joseph "Joe" Babisch had over 60 years experience in Art Education. He was an award-winning instructor at Youngstown State University for 44 years, retiring in 2006 as the school's most senior faculty member. Joe received a Bachelor of Science degree in Art at Buffalo State University; a Master of Arts degree in printmaking and graphics at Kent State University; and a Master of Arts degree in education at Westminster College. His exhibitions included a one-man show titled "Curtain Up, Light The Lights. Visual Impressions of the Musical Theatre" at the Butler Institute of American Art in 2019. This show was inspired by his Broadway musical connoisseurship and extensive knowledge of the stage.
