MARK TWAIN FIRST EDITION VOLUME, Mark Twain, Adventures of Huckleberry Finn (Tom Sawyer's Comrade), New York: Charles L. Webster and Company, 1885. First U.S. edition with the following first issue points: p. 9 with "Huck Decided to Leave", p. 13 with uncorrected illustration page reference "88", and p. 57 with misprint "with the was". Additional first edition points include "1884" copyright page with "1885" title page, frontispiece bust of Twain with "Karl Gerhardt, Sc." written on bust, and p. 143 with illustration missing "l" in "Col." and with broken b in "body". Hardcover bound in green cloth with front cover illustration stamped in gilt and black, signed in pencil by previous owner "Horace E. Fox, 3-7-1885".

Condition

Fair condition. Front cover separated from text block and cloth binding of spine torn and almost completely separated from back cover. Heavy wear to covers and spine. All interior pages have significant toning, foxing, or staining, but text and title pages appear complete and intact.
