MARK TWAIN FIRST EDITION VOLUME RARE BINDING, Mark Twain, Adventures of Huckleberry Finn (Tom Sawyer's Comrade), New York: Charles L. Webster and Company, 1885. First U.S. edition with the following first issue points: p. 9 with "Huck Decided to Leave", p. 13 with uncorrected illustration page reference "88", p. 57 with misprint "with the was", p. 155 missing number 5. Additional first edition points include "1884" copyright page with "1885" title page, frontispiece bust of Twain with "Karl Gerhardt, Sc." written on bust, p. 143 with illustration missing "l" in "Col." and broken b in "body", and p. 283 with "curved fly" illustration. Bound with brown morocco leather and marbled boards, with gilt-decorated spine, marbled endpapers, and marbled page edges, with illustrations by E.W. Kemble throughout.
Catalogue Note: This is one of approximately 500 first edition copies bound with brown morocco. Approximately 20,000 copies of the first edition were bound in cloth, making this leather bound edition significantly rarer.
