MAULDEN PERINE ATTRIBUTED, BALTIMORE, MARYLAND DECORATED STONEWARE JAR, salt-glazed, "4" gallon capacity mark, cylindrical form with squared rim, beaded neck ring, and applied arched handles. Brushed cobalt angled dropped flower and leaf decoration to each side, additional cobalt at handle terminals. The pottery of Maulden Perine & Co., Baltimore, MD. Circa 1850. 14 3/8" H, 9 3/4" D rim.
Literature: Parallels Kille - "Distinguishing Marks and Flowering Designs: Baltimore's Utilitarian Stoneware Industry", Ceramics in America 2005, p. 109, fig. 34 for a churn bearing identical decoration incised with the address of Perine's pottery.

Condition

Excellent, mostly undamaged condition, having shallow rim flake.
