MID-ATLANTIC DECORATED STONEWARE PITCHER WITH "MAKE-DO" HANDLE, salt-glazed, approximately two-gallon capacity, semi-ovoid body with incised band of four rings to shoulder and beaded rim, strap handle with well-done historical sheet-iron/tin replacement. Brushed cobalt undulating flowering vine full-round below rings, and dropped feather decoration repeated three times to each side of spout. Probably Alexandria, VA or Baltimore, MD. Circa 1850. 11 7/8" H, 5 1/4" D rim.

Condition

Noted historical handle replacement, rim with very light 1 1/2" hairline to interior only, base with two chips to edge.
