MID-ATLANTIC WALNUT SLIDE-TOP CANDLE BOX, case with dovetailed construction and finely molded top edges, lid with molded-edge raised panel and three finger catches, bottom secured with wooden pegs, raised on original bun feet. Walnut secondary wood. Retains an excellent old surface. Probably Pennsylvania or Virginia. Late 18th/early 19th century. 8" HOA, 11 1/2" WOA, 17" LOA.

Very good overall condition, minor losses to top-edge moldings, lid with later batten added to underside of one end, two light burns to top.
