NEW YORK ATTRIBUTED DOUBLE WEAVE COVERLET, dark blue wool and natural cotton, two joined panels, center having all-over eight-point star and circular motif pattern, three sides with geometric border, two corners with tiny eight-point star bocks, one end with border having repeated owner's name of "Phebe Powel" and a thin geometric outer row. Possibly Westchester Co., NY. Circa 1815. 78" x 92".
Catalogue Note: Per consignor, the identity of the original owner is Phebe H. Powell (1791-1856) of Westchester Co., NY, who married Joshua Carpenter (b. 1787).


Very good to excellent visual condition with minimal wear, a few small losses to wool, cotton with some toning and spotting, end edges with a few spots of snags on wool, center seam with probable mending.
