PAIR OF AMERICAN SCHOOL (19TH CENTURY) FOLK ART PORTRAITS,
oil on canvas, reportedly Norfolk, VA subjects, each a waist-length depiction of a seated figure, he with gray overcoat and high white stock, she with black gown having white lace collar, no signature located. Each housed in likely original molded giltwood frame.
Circa 1840.
29 1/4" x 24 1/4" sight, 35 1/2" x 30 3/4" OA.
Provenance: From a Virginia private collection.
He in very good overall condition with minor discoloration. She with areas of hazy discoloration to background. Frames with minor wear.
