PAIR OF CHIPPENDALE STYLE CARVED MAHOGANY SIDE CHAIRS, in the Philadelphia style, each shaped crest rail with carved central shell and volute ears, above a pierced vasiform splat, and trapezoidal slip seat, the whole raised on cabriole front legs with shaped returns and shell-carved knees, terminating in ball and claw feet. Retains an old surface with rich color. Late 19th/first quarter 20th century. 38" HOA, 18" H seat, 15" D seat.
