PAPIER-MACHE WITH ABALONE / MOTHER-OF-PEARL IMAGE CASES, LOT OF FOUR, each with floral motif, comprising one sixth plate example with additional silver wire inlay and polychrome hand-painted decorations featuring a tintype of two women to interior, possibly mother and daughter, and three examples having additional polychrome hand-painted decorations including a quarter plate having a tintype of a gentleman, a sixth plate example with gilt-painted "TOKEN" to spine, and a ninth plate example with ambrotype of a young lady. Second half 19th century. 3" x 2 3/4" to 6" x 4 3/4".

Condition

Silver wire inlay example in very good condition with some expected wear; ninth plate example having a few minute losses to mother of pearl and wear, otherwise undamaged; "TOKEN" example in three detached pieces; quarter plate example having detached cover and back.
