PENNSYLVANIA FOLK ART FRAKTUR DRAWINGS / REWARDS OF MERIT AND SCHERENSCHNITTE / CUT-WORK, LOT OF FIVE, comprising four drawings / rewards of merit, watercolor and ink on paper, consisting of one on lined paper of birds around a long banner that reads "Miss / Emma / Harman / Warners / School / W.M.W. [Swink or Swank?] / Teacher 1877 / for being / head in / spelling / class / No 2 / Upper Hanover / Mont / Co", one on lined paper of two birds and scrolling foliate motifs above a banner that reads, "Harrison [J. Fold?]", and two logs with writing of "East Texas, Pa. / Nov 28th, 1895.", one of a flowering branch above penciled writing including "Wm Leisenring Pinet...Allen [tn?]", and the last of a nude figure with German writing to reverse, and a small scherenschnitte / cut-work piece. Unframed. 19th century. East Texas, PA example 12 1/2" x 8".

Condition

Mostly in good to very good overall condition with light toning, a few to some stains and spotting, and one or more creases; Upper Hanover and Leisenring examples with some tears and losses along edges; East Texas, PA example with moderate fading to ink.
