RARE KENTUCKY JACQUARD COVERLET, green, Turkey red, and greyish tan wool, and natural cotton, whole panel, center featuring repeated design of rose medallions alternating with eight-point stars, three sides with flower and fruit basket border and fringe, top edge with an early addition of an applied red binding. Bottom corners signed "MADE / BY / D. COSLEY / KY. / 1860". Dennis Cosley, Fayetteville, Pennsylvania, Xenia, Ohio, and Kentucky. Dated 1860. 82" x 92" with fringe.
Excellent visual condition with light toning, some very light fading mostly to center, a few scattered stains and some spotting, some scattered minute to small losses to wool notably along edges and fringe, top edge possibly cut down, applied binding with wear, tears, and holes.
