SCHERMERHORN POTTERY, RICHMOND, VIRGINIA DECORATED STONEWARE PITCHER, salt-glazed, approximately two-gallon capacity, ovoid form with double incised rings below rim, applied lightly grooved strap handle with thumb-pressed lower terminal. Brushed cobalt double blossom flower to front, spout with two short stripes flanked by vertical lines, additional cobalt at handle terminals. John P. Schermerhorn (1788-1850), Richmond Factory, Henrico County, VA. 1817-1837. 13 3/8" H, 5 7/8" D rim.

Condition

Having some scattered rim chips and flakes and a radial hairline to base, partially extending up two sides that does not affect resonance.
