SCHOOL OF THOMAS SULLY (AMERICAN, 1783-1872) PORTRAIT OF A CHILD, oil on canvas, bust-length depiction of a fair-skinned child 3-5 years old, with blonde hair brushed away from forehead. Housed in a likely-original period frame. Second half 19th century. 16 3/4" x 13 3/4" sight, 23 3/4" x 20 3/4" OA.
Good condition overall having been relined, and having areas of scattered inpainting; frame with minor losses and darkening.
Deaccessioned by the Valentine Museum, Richmond, VA to benefit collections care, preservation, and future acquisitions.
